Oyster Factories of Beaufort County, South Carolina
26" wide by 25.2" tall, giclee print on cotton rag watercolor paper
Beaufort County in the Lowcountry of South Carolina has a long history. One of the more tasteful periods was the late 19th and earyl 20th centuries when oyster factories dotted many of the islands. These houses and shacks were where oysters would be brought in from the salt marsh, shucked of their shell and packaged for shipment across the country.
